The technology isn't there yet, and even with autonomous buses, I'm guessing much like planes, which are mostly automated, they would still want a human at the controls or at least there to supervise. I think rail would probably be the easier thing to automate, but since so much of TriMet's system is running with cars on the street, it wouldn't be viable until a lot of it is run underground or is elevated.
